We are currently accepting applications for a Supplier Quality and Compliance Specialist – Dairy/Soy Focus in our Corporate Office on the East side of Madison, WI, ranked the “#1 Best Place to Live” by Livability.com. The position will include 25-50% travel, will work Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm, and will report to the Director of Quality.

Job Summary

Drive supplier quality and compliance to prevent or eliminate food safety risks and supplier quality defects in new and existing ingredients and packaging, with a focus on dairy and soy.  The Supplier Quality and Compliance Specialist maintains the authority to cease ingredient and packaging receipt if compliance with food safety or quality standards are not being met.  In addition, the Supplier Quality and Compliance Supervisor will work cross functionally to lead and execute CQC’s Supplier Management Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain regulatory compliance with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the State of Wisconsin, and State of Nevada.
  • Lead CQC’s Foreign and Domestic Supplier Management Program for ingredients and packaging components, with a focus on dairy and lecithin ingredients.
    • Communication cross functionally with R&D/Procurement/Engineering Teams to set up new Suppliers and Items within the electronic Supplier Quality Management software program.
    • Evaluation of new and existing suppliers, ingredients, and packaging materials for approval, with a focus on dairy and soy.
    • Maintain ingredient and supplier risk assessments and initiate and coordinate ingredient and supplier risk mitigation strategies.
    • Evaluation and support in the management of internal CQC ingredient specifications.
    • Management of required documents utilizing the electronic supplier document management system as well as being the subject matter expert of the system.
    • Work closely with Suppliers to lead CQC’s Supplier Audit process, including coordination, and execution of onsite/remote facility audits, audit report writing and ensuring completion of identified corrective action responses in a timely manner.  Audits will primarily focus on dairy and soy suppliers but may include others.
    • Support, enforce and monitor supplier non-conformance performance to drive for effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
    • Support dispositioning of out-of-spec materials upon receipt.
  • Develop partnership relationships with our dairy and soy suppliers to ensure transparent communication, risk mitigation and collaboration between organizations is in place.
  • Work cross functionally with CQC Sourcing/Procurement/Engineering Teams to identify Supplier efficiency, food safety risk mitigation and continuous improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with CQC Sourcing/Procurement Teams to drive improvement in Supplier performance by review of scorecard metrics.
  • Maintain and continuously improve CQC’s Food Fraud Risk and Food Safety Risk Assessments for ingredients.  Lead all risk assessment activities for CQC’s dairy and soy ingredients, working with suppliers and CQC on risk mitigation strategies
  • Travel to other CQC facilities, training, suppliers, and/or customers, as necessary.
  • Back-up other Supplier Quality and Compliance Specialist.
  • Perform all tasks assigned by the Manager, while following all company, safety, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular attendance at work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred:  Science Based (Food Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, or similar) orminimum of 5 years of quality related experience within a Dairy manufacturing environment, including advancing levels of leadership and responsibility.
  • 3 years of food and dairy manufacturing auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety, Federal, State, Local, etc. regulations and requirements required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must have acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license.
